School stabbing: Classes to continue as usual for now, says Education DG

PUTRAJAYA: Teaching and learning (PdP) sessions at the school where a female student was fatally stabbed will continue as usual, says Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad.

The Education director-general said the ministry would closely monitor the situation to ensure that the investigation does not disrupt the school’s daily operations.

“We will review the matter carefully, but for now, teaching and learning activities at the school will proceed as usual.

“The ongoing investigations will not interfere with classroom sessions,” he said during a special press conference at the Education Ministry on Tuesday (Oct 14).

Azam also confirmed that the school was currently conducting its final examinations.

“The ongoing examinations are school-based assessments.

“Therefore, the school has the flexibility to rearrange or adjust the examination schedule according to the situation,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday (Oct 14), a female student from a school in Bandar Utama died after she was allegedly stabbed by a male student.

The incident is believed to have taken place at around 9.30am, after the boy reportedly brought a sharp weapon, believed to be a knife, to school.

According to initial information, the suspect is believed to have attacked and stabbed the victim during school hours.
