KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan PETRONAS has launched a dedicated Program Duta Guru (PDG) STEM Hub at the Sipitang Teacher Activity Centre (Pusat Kegiatan Guru) to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education across Sabah.
Equipped with modern technology and instructional tools, the hub offers local educators—particularly those in rural and underserved communities—a collaborative space to access teaching resources, share best practices, and improve classroom learning outcomes.
The Sipitang centre marks the first facility completed under PDG Phase Two, joining established hubs in Selangor, Sarawak, and Terengganu. Yayasan PETRONASs plans to expand the nationwide network to six hubs by adding locations in Melaka and Perak.

Yayasan Petronas Chief Executive Officer Shariah Nelly Francis said the hub reflects the foundation's commitment to empowering teachers as key enablers of quality STEM education.
"We hope the STEM Hub will serve as a collaborative space where teachers can exchange ideas and continuously enhance their knowledge to create meaningful learning experiences for their students," she said.
PDG is a multi-year national initiative jointly driven by Yayasan Petronas and the Education Ministry, with Teach For Malaysia as the implementation partner and Petrosains running the STEM Hubs.
To date, the initiative has supported 358 STEM teachers across Sabah, with 209 graduating as certified Duta Guru.
