Fourteen-year-old nabbed over fatal stabbing of girl in Bandar Utama


PETALING JAYA: A 14-year-old male student has been detained in connection with the fatal stabbing of a female student at a school in Bandar Utama here.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the incident occurred at about 9.30am on Tuesday (Oct 14).

"The suspect allegedly stabbed the female student outside a classroom and she died at the scene," he told reporters after launching the police's anti-bullying campaign at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

He said police are still investigating the scene of the crime

"We have not established the motive behind the incident," he said.

It was reported that the suspect allegedly attacked and stabbed the female victim in the school during school hours.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat and a team of investigating officers are at the location to gather evidence and record statements from witnesses.

Meanwhile, the family members of the teenage student who was stabbed to death earlier have left the University Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) mortuary.

Family members were seen leaving the compound at 4.15pm without addressing the media.

Earlier in the day, the family said that any statements would be made through their lawyer.
