KUALA TERENGGANU: Seven Terengganu Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) division chiefs have expressed support for Nurul Izzah Anwar to contest the party's deputy president post for the 2025-2028 term.
Terengganu PKR information chief Dr Che Wan Ku Hashim Che Ku Mat said Nurul Izzah is well-qualified to hold the party's number two position, citing her extensive experience and long-standing involvement in navigating the party through its various challenges and milestones.

"She is 'Puteri Reformasi' (Princess of Reform). I am confident she can drive PKR to be more progressive. During the 14th General Election (GE14), she, as the PKR election director, was the architect who led the party to win 31 seats. There have been many successes under her leadership before," he told Bernama on Friday (May 9).
Che Wan Ku Hashim, who is also the Besut PKR chief, said Nurul Izzah's approachable and grassroots-friendly nature would further inspire and motivate the party machinery to work harder in delivering meaningful victories, especially in preparation for the upcoming general election.

He said the PKR divisions in Terengganu that have expressed support for Nurul Izzah were Besut, Kemaman, Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus and Setiu.
"Marang could not give their support because there is a suspension issue following protests at its general meeting," he said.

Nurul Izzah has officially announced her candidacy for the position of PKR deputy president for the 2025-2028 term.
In a statement on Friday, the PKR vice-president said that if delegates believe she is suitable to shoulder the significant responsibilities and trust of the position, she will strive to do her best for the party.

The nomination process for the election of PKR's top leadership, involving the central leadership council, central youth wing and central wanita wing, began at noon on Thursday and will end at 11.59 Friday night.
The PKR National Congress, including the AMK Congress and the Wanita Congress, is scheduled to take place from May 21 to 24 in Johor Baru. - Bernama
