Group of 13 MPs call for Bersatu to leave Perikatan

PETALING JAYA: A group of 13 MPs has called for Bersatu to leave or be expelled from the Opposition coalition, claiming that the party's leadership has led to the alliance weakening.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday (June 10), the 13 MPs, who are either current or have been suspended  from Bersatu, said PAS' decision to sever ties with the party did not come as a surprise, citing what they alleged was the "arrogance" of certain Bersatu leaders.

They said they were disappointed with what they described as Bersatu's repeated failure to uphold the spirit of cooperation within Perikatan.

"The refusal to respect the spirit of camaraderie among component parties has ultimately backfired and destroyed the strength of the coalition that was built with great effort," they said.

They also claimed that they had repeatedly raised concerns internally with Muhyiddin over the party's direction and the need to preserve ties within the coalition but their views were ignored.

They also alleged criticism voiced by party members was silenced by misusing Bersatu's disciplinary mechanism.

They also claimed Perikatan would weaken if Bersatu remains in coalition.

The group urged Perikatan to remove Bersatu from the coalition if the party does not exit voluntarily and also called for a review of political appointments and state executive council positions held by Bersatu representatives.

The statement was signed by Beluran MP Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee, Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Wira Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Tanah Merah MP Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid, Kangar MP Zakri Hassan, Lumut MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail, Rompin MP Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah, Sungai Besar MP Datuk Muslimin Yahaya, Mersing MP Muhammad Islahuddin Abas, Sabak Bernam MP Kalam Salan, Ketereh MP Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor, Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Roslan Hashim and Kubang Pasu MP Datuk Wira Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail.
