KUALA LUMPUR: Umno's Blue Malaysia Agenda goes beyond winning elections and sets out its vision for Malaysia if Umno and Barisan Nasional return to federal power, says Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
The Umno information chief said the agenda, outlined by party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, is to build public confidence while preparing the country's future as it heads towards 100 years of independence.
"The Blue Malaysia Agenda goes beyond electoral politics.
"The question is not merely how we want to win, but what kind of Malaysia we want to build if the people once again place their trust in Umno and Barisan to lead the country," she said in a statement on Friday (Sept 11).
Azalina said the agenda envisioned a Malaysia that was sovereign and united, innovative and high-income, prosperous and equitable, as well as outstanding and respected on the world stage.
"As Malaysia approaches 100 years of independence, we must be clear about the country we want to leave to the next generation.
"A mandate is not a reward for a political party and power is not the goal of our struggle. A mandate is a trust to build Malaysia's future," she said.
Earlier, Umno unveiled its "Blue Malaysia Agenda", setting out its vision for the country's future as Malaysia heads towards 100 years of Merdeka.
Its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the agenda would be pursued should Umno, Barisan Nasional and their political allies return to Putrajaya.
