PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth will lodge nationwide police reports over the government’s failure to execute the Royal Decree granting former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak house arrest, says chief Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh.
In a statement on Saturday (Nov 7), Akmal urged Putrajaya to immediately implement the decree issued by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, insisting that all conditions for the conditional pardon had been fully satisfied.
"On Nov 6, all conditions were met. The RM50mil fine was paid at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, which then issued a sealed order allowing Datuk Seri Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest. The Home Ministry also gazetted his residence as a prison under Section 3 of the Prisons Act 1995," Akmal said.
He emphasised that any ongoing legal proceedings should not delay the King's order.
"Umno Youth demands that His Majesty's decree be implemented immediately. Any further court reference should not be used as grounds to stall a decree that His Majesty has confirmed to be clear and unambiguous," he added.
Akmal confirmed that Umno Youth branches at both state and division levels will file police reports to prompt an investigation into whether any laws were breached in holding back the execution of the royal decree and court order.
His remarks follow a statement by the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) on Friday (Nov 6), which stated that Najib’s house arrest should be temporarily deferred.
The AGC explained that the deferment was not intended to question the Monarch's decision, but to ensure that the decree and related court orders are implemented accurately and in strict accordance with the law.
