Bersatu disciplinary board to convene soon over members' alleged breaches of party constitution

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu's disciplinary board says it will convene soon to review complaints and reports lodged against several party members allegedly linked to a plot to oust party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"As the body entrusted with upholding discipline, integrity and organisational order, we stress that every breach of party rules and discipline will be dealt with without compromise.

"All members referred to the disciplinary board will be summoned to attend official proceedings to explain and defend themselves according to the party's constitution and rules," it said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 30).

The board also said the process would be carried out transparently and fairly in accordance with the party's constitution.

"Any member found guilty of breaching discipline and tarnishing the party's image will face stern action, including immediate expulsion," it added.

The board also urged members to remain focused on the party's struggle and to refrain from making statements or taking actions that could weaken the party.

This comes after various Bersatu leaders issued separate statements in recent days urging the disciplinary board to act against certain party figures for allegedly violating party discipline and undermining its leadership.

The calls followed demands to refer Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz to the disciplinary board over alleged threats against division leaders linked to a purported plot to oust Muhyiddin.

Ahead of the party's annual general assembly earlier in September, there was also talk of statutory declarations from division leaders calling for Muhyiddin to step down.
