MCA Selangor wholeheartedly welcomes the recognition given by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who paid tribute to all parties that made the completion and operation of the LRT Shah Alam Line possible.
His Royal Highness’ praise carries an important message that planning and implementation of strategic national infrastructure must always be guided by the interests of the people, rather than political considerations.
The project was initiated under the previous Barisan Nasional administration as a critical investment in the nation’s public transport network.
Projects that deliver tangible and long-term benefits to the rakyat should never be delayed, scaled down or subjected to unnecessary changes merely because they were initiated by a previous administration.
When politics takes precedence over sound policymaking, it is the people who bear the cost.
Public infrastructure should never become a casualty of political rivalry.
Once a project has been proven to benefit the rakyat, its implementation should continue regardless of which government conceived it.
A responsible government has the maturity to continue policies and projects that serve national interest instead of allowing political differences to undermine public welfare.
Selangor MCA also welcomes the decision to construct the five previously deferred stations for the LRT Shah Alam Line.
Reinstating them is essential to ensuring that more communities, particularly in Selangor, enjoy better connectivity and greater access to an efficient, reliable and modern public transport system.
More importantly, it should serve as a lasting reminder that good policies and beneficial projects deserve continuity, irrespective of political affiliation.
