KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his condolences to the family of Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) founder Abdul Wahab Alwi, who died on Tuesday (Aug 25) morning.
In a Facebook post, Anwar described Abdul Wahab, who was known as the "Father of MRSM”, as having made a significant contribution to the history of education in the country.
"The late Abdul Wahab’s contribution to conceptualising and developing the MRSM initiative was a major contribution to the history of education in the country, particularly in expanding access to science education for Malaysian children.
"May Allah SWT shower His mercy upon his soul, forgive his sins and place him among His righteous servants,” Anwar said.
The Prime Minister said Abdul Wahab’s efforts had helped MRSM grow into an institution that has produced many Malaysians who are knowledgeable, skilled and successful in various fields.
