GENERALLY, many of those who are debt-laden or dealing with financial struggles turn to the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) for assistance. However, is it true that it employs agents and charges a fee to provide its services to the public?

In a post on its official Twitter account, AKPK said that it does not employ agents or charge for its services.

"AKPK gives solutions to the problem of loan repayments free of charge through https://services.akpk.org.my," it said.

The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency - commonly known as Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) - is an agency set up by Bank Negara Malaysia in April 2006 to help individuals take control of their financial situation and gain peace of mind that comes from the wise use of credit.

The services provided by AKPK are overseen by Bank Negara and run by certified financial advisors with many years of experience under their belt.
