QuickCheck: Was a man detained for crossing the LRT tracks at Masjid Jamek station?

Shortcuts may be convenient but crossing the railway tracks to get to the other side is not only illegal and risky too. Recently, a foreigner was caught trespassing onto the LRT tracks of a station in Kuala Lumpur. Did such an incident happen as claimed?

Verdict:

TRUE

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sulizmie Affendy Sulaima said that a foreigner was arrested on Wednesday (Aug 6) after the police were informed of the incident at the Masjid Jamek LRT station.

"Investigations showed that the suspect had crossed the track as he wanted to take a shortcut to his workplace.

“He also failed to present any identification when asked to do so by the police," he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 7), adding that the man will be remanded today.

He also urged the public to not put themselves in harm's way by walking into prohibited areas.
