VIRAL videos can often expose dangerous behaviours unseen by authorities. This was the case when a video clip captured a driver flouting traffic rules by driving against the flow of traffic. Did such an incident really happen in Johor?
VERDICT:
TRUE
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said a man was arrested two days after police detected a 24-second video that went viral of a car being driven dangerously.
He said the driver of the car was also driving against the flow of traffic, which posed a risk to other motorists in the area.
“The 51-year-old driver had exited Taman Megah using the entrance of the intersection going towards Mersing,’’ he said in a statement.
Police investigation found that the offence was committed at the entrance of the Taman Megah Kluang intersection at KM57.4 on Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing on Monday (Aug 4).
ACP Bahrin said the driver almost hit another car that was entering the intersection.
He said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday (Aug 6) to assist with investigation, adding that the driver tested negative for drugs.
ACP Bahrin called upon those with information on the case to go the nearest police station in Kluang district or contact the Kluang Police Contingent at 07-7784222, 07-7784256 (Direct Line), 07-7766822 (Hotline) or 07-3656822 (Tablet DCC).
