Severe weather expected over 10 states until 5pm today


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for most parts of Malaysia, including Selangor and Johor.

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 2pm on Saturday (June 7), thunderstorms are expected over 10 states including Kelantan and Terengganu.

Also affected are Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik and Baling), Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah and Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman).

Also seeing rains are Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Bentong, Bera, Pekan and Rompin), Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Gombak), Negri Sembilan (Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin) and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi).

Other areas include Sabah: Interior (Tambunan), West Coast (Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Kudat)

The advisory is until 5pm today.
