MetMalaysia: Six areas are at Level 1 hot weather status

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has announced that six areas on the Peninsula are now at Level 1 (caution) for three consecutive days due to the ongoing hot weather.

In a Facebook post on Monday (June 2), MetMalaysia stated that the affected areas are Larut and Matang, Kuala Kangsar and Central Perak in Perak; Machang and Kuala Krai in Kelantan; and New Town in Kedah.

"Level 1 status (caution) is issued when the maximum daily temperature reaches between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius," it said in the post.

People are advised to take precautions to mitigate the health risks associated with prolonged hot weather. Such measures include avoiding physical activity in direct sunlight, staying hydrated and seeking shade or air conditioning.
