MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain in seven states until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across seven states, effective until 6pm on Friday (Oct 9).

In a statement at 3pm on Friday, MetMalaysia said the affected areas are Kedah (Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu); Perak (Kerian, Selama, Larut Matang, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak); Terengganu (Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Raub, Temerloh, Jerantut, Kuantan, Lipis and Cameron Highlands); Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Klang, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, Sepang and Petaling) as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Sarawak, the areas affected are Bintulu; Miri (Subis); Sibu (Selangau and Kanowit); Mukah (Dalat and Mukah); Kapit (Kapit and Song) and Sri Aman (Lubok Antu).

Over in Sabah, areas affected are the Interior (Pensiangan, Membakut and Beaufort); Sandakan; West Coast (Ranau and Papar) and Tawau (Kalabakan).
