Budget 2027: RM750mil allocated for Jualan Rahmah, Agro Madani events to help rural, urban poor

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 35,000 Jualan Rahmah Madani and Jualan Agro Madani sales events will be held nationwide next year to help Malaysians cope with the rising cost of living, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the government would increase the allocation for both programmes from RM630mil to RM750mil under Budget 2027.

Of the total, 30,000 Jualan Rahmah Madani events will be organised across all state constituencies, with particular emphasis on rural areas, low-cost housing estates and urban People's Housing Projects (PPR).

"The focus will be on expanding Jualan Rahmah events in rural areas, low-cost housing estates and urban PPR communities, not only through conventional grocery shops but also vending machines," he said when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 9).

Anwar said Jualan Rahmah Madani wholesale sales would also be organised to support small traders.

Meanwhile, he said another 5,000 Jualan Agro Madani events will be held nationwide, offering fresh produce such as fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits at prices up to 30% lower.

"These events will offer fresh agricultural produce, including fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits, at prices up to 30% lower," he said.

Anwar also announced that the distribution of essential goods to rural and remote communities would be expanded, with an allocation of RM250mil.

He said the initiative would cover six new locations, including Kampung Terian in Penampang, Sabah, and Kampung Dato’ Godam in Pusa, Sarawak.
