Floods: Four more relief centres open in Larut, Matang and Selama

IPOH: A total of 56 people affected by storms and floods in the Larut, Matang and Selama (LMS) district have been evacuated to five temporary relief centres as of Saturday (Oct 17) night.

The Perak Disaster Management Committee secretariat said it opened four more temporary relief centres at 8pm Saturday after flooding caused by continuous rain since the afternoon. They are SK Changkat Ibol, Dewan Masjid Al Wusta, Dewan Perdana Trong and SK Matang Gelugor.

The centres were opened after several homes in Kampung Changkat Ibol, Kampung Batu 9 and Trong were flooded.

"However, the number of flood victims at the centres has yet to be updated," the statement said.

Meanwhile, the secretariat said the number of storm victims at the SK Matang relief centre, which has been open since Wednesday, remained unchanged at 56 people from 21 families as of Saturday night. - Bernama
