Malaysia condemns Israeli plan to seize Palestinian lands

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has strongly condemned and rejected Israel’s plan to expand its control over 70% of the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the move was politically unacceptable and constituted a serious violation of international law, as well as the United Nations Charter and relevant United Nations resolutions.

"Malaysia calls on the international community and the United Nations to unequivocally reject the (Israeli regime’s) plan.

“Any attempt to alter the territorial reality of Gaza will further undermine prospects for peace and justice.

“Malaysia reiterates its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and its longstanding support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the ministry said.

It was previously reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed his troops to seize 70% of Palestinian territory in the Gaza Strip in a move which reneges on an ongoing ceasefire deal.
