Lorry plunges into ravine at Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing, driver safe

GUA MUSANG: A lorry has plunged into a ravine at KM90 of Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing near here, believed to have been caused by brake failure when the driver stopped to check the vehicle.

Fortunately, the 30-year-old driver from Port Klang escaped unharmed in the 7.30am incident on Friday (May 29).

Gua Musang OCPD Supt Sik Choon Foo said initial investigations found that the lorry was travelling from Gua Musang towards Lojing when the driver realised the vehicle was experiencing brake problems.

"The driver stopped the trailer on the left of the road to conduct an inspection. However, while the inspection was being carried out, the trailer suddenly moved and plunged into a ravine," he said in a statement on Saturday (May 30).

The case is being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59 and members of the public with relevant information are urged to contact the Gua Musang police headquarters traffic investigation and enforcement division at 09-912 1222 or investigating officer Sgt Mazli at 019-615 6579 to assist investigations. – Bernama
