Ayer Kuning polls: Three-cornered fight on the cards as nominations close

TAPAH: The Ayer Kuning state by-election will be a three-way tussle.

The state seat will be contested by Barisan Nasional's Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir, Abd Muhaimin Malek of Perikatan Nasional, while PSM will field its secretary general KS Bawani.

The announcement was made by returning officer Ahmad Redhauddin Ahmad Shokori at Dewan Merdeka here on Saturday (April 12).

Polling is set for April 26, while early voting is on April 22.

    The by-election is called after its incumbent Ishsam Shahruddin, 58, passed away on Feb 22.

    In the 2022 General Election, Ishsam polled 9,088 votes and won by a 2,213 majority, defeating Amanah's Mohd Nazri Hashim, Muhammad Noor Farid of PAS, Bawani, and Pejuang's Maziah Salim.
