Dr Wee: Tapah symbolises the strength of coalition unity

TAPAH: The Tapah parliamentary constituency has long symbolised unity among the three core Barisan Nasional component parties and as April 26 approaches, maintaining this legacy is crucial, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president highlighted that Tapah is one of the few areas in the country with the solid blue of Barisan Nasional.

“That’s why I said this place is unique, and it is our responsibility to ensure that we come out in full force to support the candidate on polling day.

“This is what I call a trio – Malay, Indian, Chinese – three elected representatives in one parliamentary constituency.

“You can’t find this anywhere else except here,” he said in his speech at a dinner organised by the Tapah MCA division.

Also present were MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan who is also the Tapah MP, and the Ayer Kuning Barisan Nasional candidate Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir.

Earlier, Dr Wee said MCA has mobilised all of its 24 divisions in Perak to help secure victory for the Barisan candidate.

He said officials from the party’s national level would also help coordinate campaign strategies.

Dr Wee said the uniqueness of this seat must be preserved.

“We must translate Barisan’s spirit of unity and cooperation in this by-election,” he said.

He also highlighted the need for a hybrid campaign where traditional methods must be combined with modern approaches.

“While door-to-door campaigning remains vital, social media and personal engagement are equally crucial. We cannot afford to overlook any voter during this by-election.

“The collaboration between Barisan’s component parties – Umno, MCA and MIC in Tapah – is our strength in the constituency,” he said.

“This is not just any seat. It is a traditional Barisan stronghold, representing the unity of Malaysia’s three major ethnic groups through Umno, MCA and MIC,” he told reporters after launching the Ayer Kuning election operation centre in Kampung Baru Coldstream in Bidor.

Dr Wee said the MCA’s by-election team is led by Dr Mah, who is also the top MCA leader in Perak.

“This, along with support from local Chenderiang assemblyman (Choong Shin Heng), and strong grassroots networks, gives us a complete and strategic team.

“Barisan aims to deliver a comprehensive campaign in the coming weeks, with all three component parties working in tandem to secure victory for the coalition’s candidate,” he added.
