KOTA BARU: Police have busted a group believed to be involved in cattle theft in Kelantan following an operation conducted from June 17 to Aug 5, which led to the arrest of 10 individuals in several raids in Bachok, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Terengganu.
Kelantan police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said in a statement Friday (Aug 7) that eight men and two women, aged between 23 and 71 years old, were arrested during the operation, with police also seizing 32 cattle, eight mobile phones, a red plastic bag containing a bottle of liquid labelled Illium Xylazil-100 and a syringe, as well as a pick-up truck and a compact car.
He said checks found that the group had, between them, 55 previous criminal offences and 24 drug-related cases, while one of the male suspects also tested positive for methamphetamine.
He said the arrests enabled police to solve 20 cattle theft cases in Kelantan involving estimated losses of RM96,000, and that all the suspects were taken to the relevant district police headquarters for documentation and further investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
"Police are still conducting investigations to complete the investigation papers," he added. - Bernama
