Ayer Kuning polls: MCA mobilises support for Barisan candidate

TAPAH: All 24 MCA divisions in Perak have been mobilised to support the Barisan candidate for the Ayer Kuning by-election, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president stated that alongside the state election machinery, representatives from the party’s central level are present to coordinate campaign strategies.

He explained that, as part of the party’s commitment, leaders from each state have been deployed, along with manpower from all 24 divisions under the state.

"This is not just any seat — it is a traditional Barisan stronghold, representing the unity of Malaysia’s three major ethnic groups through Umno, MCA, and MIC," he told reporters after launching the Ayer Kuning election operation centre in Kampung Baru Coldstream in Bidor on Friday (April 11).

Also present was the party’s deputy president, Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

Later, Dr Wee attended a "Sejahtera Bersama" dinner organised by the Tapah MCA division at the village’s multi-purpose hall.

Dr Wee emphasised the importance of preserving the uniqueness of this seat.

"We must translate Barisan’s spirit of unity and cooperation in this by-election.

"We are fully prepared and will accompany the candidate to the nomination centre tomorrow (April 12)," he said.

Wee noted that although the campaign period officially begins on Saturday, they were already meeting grassroots leaders on Friday to brief and motivate them.

"The dinner is held with MCA leaders and the local community as a show of solidarity," he said.

Dr Wee also highlighted the necessity of a hybrid campaign approach, stressing the importance of both traditional methods and modern outreach.

"While door-to-door campaigning remains vital, social media and personal engagement are equally crucial. We cannot afford to overlook any voter during this by-election.

"The collaboration between Barisan’s component parties—Umno, MCA, and MIC in Tapah, is our key strength in the constituency," he said.

Dr Wee mentioned that the MCA team is led by the deputy president, who is also the top MCA leader in Perak.

"This, along with support from the local Chenderiang assemblyman and strong grassroots networks, gives us a complete and strategic team.

"Barisan aims to deliver a comprehensive campaign in the coming weeks, with all three component parties working in tandem to secure victory for the coalition’s candidate," he added.
