KUALA LUMPUR: The use of MyDigital ID is currently being expanded to state-level government systems as the number of users for the national digital identification platform has grown to 12 million, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).
The Deputy Prime Minister said MyDigital ID has been integrated into at least 19 state government online applications so far, with integration into another 28 still in the development phase.
“The goal is to have MyDigital ID integrated with online services by local authorities, land offices and various state agencies.
“MyDigital ID’s system design will enable government agencies to easily and quickly implement integration without requiring new hardware or additional software procurement.
“We will ensure MyDigital ID’s system remains available at an optimal level to enable various government online service systems to be accessed seamlessly,” he said in a parliamentary written reply to Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi.
Wong had asked for the current number of Malaysians registered for MyDigital ID as well as the government’s efforts to integrate the system into government systems and platforms.
Ahmad Zahid said MyDigital ID’s integration status at the state level is part of the agenda of the National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution Council (MED4IRN) to ensure comprehensive and effective implementation.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said by the end of June, no less than 12 million Malaysians had signed up for MyDigital ID. There have also been 16 million total sign-ups, including renewals and cancellations.
The government remains firm and committed to ensuring that the security of Malaysians’ digital identities is protected.
