Father, son killed in Kuala Nerus house fire

KUALA NERUS: A father and his nine-year-old son were killed in a house fire in Kampung Tok Jembal, near here, early Wednesday morning (Aug 26).

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor, in a statement on Wednesday, said police were alerted to a fire involving a semi-permanent two-storey house near Sekolah Kebangsaan Tok Jembal at about 4am.

He said the operation to extinguish the fire and rescue the 40-year-old man and his son was carried out by 16 personnel from the Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Stations.

"A Fire and Rescue Tender (FRT) and a Compact Fire and Rescue Tender (CFRT) were also deployed for the operation," he said.

Azli said the cause of the fire and the amount of losses incurred were still under investigation. – Bernama
