Two foreign nationals arrested over foetus found in Bangsar trash bin

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two foreign nationals believed to be linked to the discovery of the remains of a foetus in a rubbish bin in Abdullah Hukum, Bangsar, here.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspects, a 23-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were arrested in the Brickfields area on Friday (Oct 23).

He said the arrests were made following police investigations and information provided by members of the public.

“We believe they are linked to the case and investigations are ongoing.

“We also appreciate the information provided by the public, which helped police track them down and make the arrests,” he told reporters after the Taman Angkat Amanita programme organised by the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters at PPR Laksamana, Jalan Peel, here on Saturday (Oct 24).

He said the baby’s body was believed to be that of a foetus aged about seven months in the womb and was discovered by an Alam Flora worker at a rubbish disposal area near Abdullah Hukum.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code.

On Friday, Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Hoo Chang Hook was reported to have said that police received a report on the discovery of the baby girl’s body at 10.43am.

Initial investigations found that the body was discovered in a rubbish bin at an apartment complex before it was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem.
