PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the death of Noorizwan Zulkefly while in police custody.
The Prime Minister said the deceased’s family must be kept informed of any developments and said the investigation must be conducted without compromise.

He expressed sadness over Noorizwan’s death and said he understood the family’s grief and anxiety as they awaited answers.
Anwar said he was scheduled to attend several engagements in Melaka on Saturday and had delegated an officer to receive the letter and hear the family’s concerns directly.
Noorizwan, 42, was arrested by Cheras police on Sept 19 in connection with investigations under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 457 of the Penal Code and Section 379 of the Penal Code.
He was taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for treatment on Sept 30 but was pronounced dead at 1.52am on Oct 1
His family has sought answers over the circumstances surrounding his death and called for a thorough investigation.
Police have said the cause of death remains undetermined pending laboratory analysis, while the case has drawn scrutiny over the circumstances of his detention and the injuries reported following his death.
