Three killed, three injured in Kunak crash


KUNAK: Three people were killed and three others injured after the car they were travelling in skidded and crashed at KM7 of Jalan Kunak-Semporna here on Tuesday (Aug 25).

Kunak police chief Supt Rejali Ak Angong said in the 6.03 m incident, the driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Health Ministry.

"In the incident, a Perodua Viva driven by a local man, together with five passengers comprising two adults and three children, was travelling from Kalabakan to their home in Kampung Sungai Langgas here.

"Upon reaching the location, the driver of the car lost control, and the vehicle skidded," he said in a statement here Wednesday.

Rejali said the accident also left one passenger seriously injured and two others with minor injuries. They were sent to Kunak Hospital for further treatment.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Rejali also advised all road users to remain vigilant and considerate while driving. – Bernama
