Two Pahang Bersatu assemblymen pledge support for MB Wan Rosdy until GE16

PETALING JAYA: Two Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) state assemblymen in Pahang have announced their support for Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is from Umno, pledging to back his administration until the 16th State General Election (PRN16).

The decision was declared in a joint statement issued Wednesday (AUG 26) by Kuala Sentul assemblyman Datuk Jasri Jamaludin and Lepar assemblyman Datuk Mohd Yazid Mohd Yunus, reported Sinar Harian.

The duo confirmed that the move was endorsed by Bersatu's central leadership to maintain political stability across Pahang and protect the welfare of constituents in both state seats.

"With the consensus reached alongside the Pahang Mentri Besar, we are confident that the development and well-being of the people in the Kuala Sentul and Lepar constituencies will be prioritised by the state government," the statement read.

Jasri and Mohd Yazid emphasised that amidst evolving political dynamics, prioritising public interest, state stability, and effective governance remains paramount. They reaffirmed their commitment to executing their duties as elected representatives while working in tandem with the state administration to safeguard ongoing development projects.

The 42-seat Pahang State Legislative Assembly was formed following the 15th General Election through a coalition between Barisan Nasional (17 seats) and Pakatan Harapan (8 seats). Perikatan Nasional previously held 17 seats, comprising 15 from PAS and 2 from Bersatu.

With the backing of the two Bersatu representatives, Wan Rosdy’s administration now commands the support of 27 assemblymen.

In another statement issued Wednesday (Aug 26), Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu confirmed that the party's Political Bureau, chaired by president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, had deliberated on the matter and given its conditional backing.
