A TAMIL Nadu man was arrested after his Taiwanese girlfriend flew to India and lodged a report against him for allegedly cheating her with a false promise of marriage, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Jegadees, 32, was pursuing his doctorate in Taiwan when he began a relationship with the 36-year-old Taiwanese woman.
When he introduced her to his parents, they objected to the relationship.
While living together as husband and wife, the woman reportedly supported his expenses while he pursued his doctorate.
After completing his studies, Jegadees returned to India, telling her he would convince his parents to accept their relationship.
However, when he severed contact with her, she contacted a lawyer in Tamil Nadu.
On the lawyer’s advice, she lodged a report, alleging he had cheated her by falsely promising to marry her. Jegadees was later arrested and charged in court.
