IPOH: Malaysia demands the immediate and unconditional release of all Global Sumud Flotilla participants, says the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
In a statement, Wisma Putra called for all activists, humanitarian workers and crew members aboard the flotilla, including 12 Malaysians, and their vessels to be released, while ensuring aid to Gaza is delivered safely.
“The Palestinians are facing genocide, starvation, deteriorating health and other unimaginable suffering,” it said on Thursday (Oct 2).
“The mission is not only lawful under international law but also a moral obligation that the international community must respect and protect,” added the ministry.
It said the flotilla is a legitimate, peaceful humanitarian initiative undertaken to deliver desperately needed aid to Gaza.
“Malaysia strongly condemns the criminal and cowardly acts of aggression by Israeli forces against the Global Sumud Flotilla, a peaceful humanitarian mission carrying life-saving aid to Gaza on October 2, 2025,” it said.
“The unprovoked and indiscriminate actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law, including international maritime law, international humanitarian law and international human rights law,” added the ministry.
The ministry said the United Nations Security Council and the international community must take urgent, concrete action to end Israel’s impunity.
“Enforce international law and hold Israel responsible for these actions. The international community must no longer tolerate Israel’s blatant disregard for global norms and principles,” it added.
“Malaysia remains resolute in supporting all genuine efforts towards a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre‑1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital,” said the ministry.
