SOS videos released by Malaysians on board flotilla


PETALING JAYA: Eight Malaysian volunteers including singer Zizi Kirana, who were part of the Global Sumud Floatilla(GSF) mission have released SOS videos indicating that they have been held by Israeli forces.

“My name is Zizi Kirana. I am a citizen of Malaysia. If you are watching this video it means I have been abducted and taken against my will by Israeli forces. Our humanitarian mission was peaceful, non-violent and fully in compliance with international law. I urgently appeal to the Malaysian government especially the honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to demand my immediate and unconditional release. Thank you,” she said in a SOS video released on social media.

At press time, the SOS alert videos of seven other Malaysian volunteers have been released on the Sumud Nusantara Official Facebook page.

Haikal Abdullah, Muaz Zainal, Zulfadhli Khairudin dan Rusydi Ramli are in detention after their ship, Sirius, was intercepted at 9.47pm, Gaza time, on Oct 1z

Others include Iylia Baliqis Suhaimi, Sul Aidil  and Ahmad Musa Alnuwayri Kamaruzaman who  were the three Malaysians aboard the Alma vessel that was intercepted at 9.44pm Gaza time.

Zizi was traveling via the Huga vessel.

Earlier, Israeli naval forces had intercepted several GSF vessels namely Aurora, Adara, Alma, Dir Yassine(Mali), Grande Blue, Huga, Spectre, Sirius and Yulara which were en route for Gaza.

International climate activist Greta Thunberg was also sailing on the Alma vessel.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Foreign Ministry posted on X that several vessels have been stopped.

“Greta and her friends are safe and healthy,” it said with a video of Thunberg retrieving her belongings.

GSF is a 44 vessel mission carrying humanitarian supplies and international activists to assist the people of Gaza.

The mission left Spain last month, aiming to break Israel's blockade of the Palestinian territory, where the United Nations  says famine has set in.
