IPOH: The interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla and detention of activists on board by Israel is a crime, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

The Opposition Leader said the global community must condemn the actions of the Zionist regime led by Benjamin Netanyahu, adding that the interception is an abuse of the Geneva Conventions and international law.

“It is not only intimidation against the activists on the flotilla but also an insult to global humanitarian efforts,” he said on Thursday (Oct 2).

“The crisis in Palestine is the biggest human tragedy of the modern era,” he added.

Hamzah then said that the world needs to unite to stop the cruelty immediately and to prosecute those who commit humanitarian crimes against Palestinians under international law.

He added that Perikatan stands firm with the struggle of the Palestinians.

“The Malaysian government must act more sternly to ensure the Islamic world, especially the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the United Nations, the European Union, Asean countries and the Non-Aligned Movement, punish Israel,” he said.

“This can no longer be a resolution without action. The government also needs to ensure the Malaysian and other international activists involved in the flotilla are protected and returned home safely,” said Hamzah
