PORT DICKSON: Barisan Nasional should reciprocate Perikatan Nasional's support by asking its supporters to vote for Perikatan candidates in the Negri Sembilan polls, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
The Parti Wawasan Negara president said this would avoid any cracks between both coalitions' electoral understanding.
“I appeal to all Perikatan supporters and members to give full support to Barisan candidates on polling day.
“This is the meaning of cooperating sincerely.
“At the same time, I appeal that Barisan leaders also urge their supporters to vote for Perikatan’s candidates,” he said during a ceramah here on Thursday (July 30).
He added that this would also ensure both coalitions will be able to form the state government and set an example for other states.
Hamzah also said Perikatan is not a small party, with the coalition having secured 74 seats at the 15th General Election.
“Although we are only contesting 11 seats for the current polls, we are doing so sincerely for Negri Sembilan and its future.
“It is not for personal interests nor our leaders. We are doing this because we know the rakyat wants both of us to work together,” he added.
Barisan and Perikatan have an electoral understanding for the Negri Sembilan polls, contesting 25 and 11 seats respectively.
Polling day falls on Aug 1.
