PETALING JAYA: United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has held talks with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to the US State Department, the discussion focused on expanding economic ties under the upgraded US-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

"Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke today with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

"Secretary Rubio and Prime Minister Anwar discussed ways to expand economic cooperation under the upgraded US-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including through secure, cutting-edge American technology," it said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 5).
