KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said she has no knowledge of claims that representatives of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak have come to the court complex to pay the RM50mil fine imposed on him, which would allow him to serve the remainder of his prison time under house arrest.
The wife of the former prime minister was doorstopped by the press at the lobby of the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex on Friday (Nov 6).
"I don't know," she said.
Rosmah was shown a screenshot of a recent news headline that stated two individuals believed to be representatives of Najib were seen leaving the payment counter at the court complex on Friday.
"They (the media) always know better, but after that they retract (the report). Rupanya tak betul (apparently it is incorrect)," she said in jest.
Earlier, Rosmah was present for a case management session at the High Court for her solar hybrid case.
She was accompanied by her lawyers Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader and Datuk Jagjit Singh.
Rumours have been rife since the beginning of the week that Najib's representatives or lawyers would be paying his fine.
On Sept 18, it was reported that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim had granted Najib a conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.
The order, however, was conditional upon Najib paying the RM50mil fine.
Shortly after, Umno launched the "Najib Razak Solidarity Fund" to crowdfund the RM50mil amount as Najib's personal and family assets remain frozen.
On Sept 25, his lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah told reporters that Najib did not have the RM50mil to secure his house arrest.
