PN candidates should use a single logo in GE16, says Muhyiddin

ALOR SETAR: Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would prefer all its candidates, including those in the four states governed by PAS, to contest using a single logo in the 16th General Election.

Muhyiddin said it is premature to specify the logo as there is still some time before GE16.

"We hope that all our candidates contesting across every state, including those in the SG4 (PAS-governed) states, will use a single, unified logo," he told reporters after attending the 71st PAS Muktamar here on Monday (Sept 15).

On Sunday (Sept 14), PAS spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin said its candidates in the State Government 4 (SG4) group of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis should be allowed to use the party logo instead of Perikatan's in GE16.

Hashim said PAS' use of its moon logo in Kelantan and Terengganu had proven effective in winning over voters.

Muhyiddin explained that the reason for his preference was costs.

"One reason is to reduce costs. If there are two or three different logos, it becomes a logistical issue.

"However, this will be decided later," said the Perikatan chairman.

"Previously, there were no problems, and I don't foresee any issues going forward either.

"That's my personal hope, because we are one coalition. In Kedah (in the last general election), we used the same logo, and in Perlis it was fine too," he said.

"Moving forward, we hope it will be the same, so that everything is consistent.

"That’s my wish, but I leave the final decision to the Perikatan leadership," he added.
