Sarawak Polls: Nomination process closed, candidates to be announced

KUCHING: The nomination process for the state election has closed after the hour-long window for candidates to submit their papers started at 9am on Monday (Dec 6).

Election officers are now going through the documents and are making necessary checks to ensure the candidates’ papers are in order.

Returning officers at the respective 82 nomination centres are expected to announce the names at around 10am.

At the Padawan Municipal Council, the returning officer for the Batu Kawah seat Ita Ling announced at 10am that nominations were closed.

This was immediately followed by a similar announcement from the Batu Kitang returning officer Elizabeth Loh.

The Padawan Municipal Council's headquarters served as the nomination centres for the two seats.

Media personnel are currently waiting for the candidates to be confirmed.
