FOR many women, speaking about violence is an act of extraordinary risk. Yet the Women’s Development Department (JPW) has seen more survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) step forward in recent years.

According to JPW director-general Hanani Sapit, the rise in reported domestic violence cases nationwide reflects growing public understanding and awareness of GBV.
