In the May/June 2026 Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) examinations, 248 students, representing 52% of the cohort, attained straight A*/As, while all 477 students successfully passed, achieving a 100% pass rate.
The results reaffirm Sunway College’s position as a leading institution and its commitment to producing high-performing students.
“The continued pursuit of excellence is exemplified by the dedication and hard work of our students and lecturers,” said Cambridge GCE A-Level programme director Ruth Cheah.
“Sunway College has consistently been recognised as the nation’s best-performing A-Level college, and these latest results are a testament to the commitment of our entire academic community and our nurturing culture.”
This strong performance is further reflected in the college’s longstanding success at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA).
Since 2014, Sunway College has consistently recorded the highest number of OCLA awards among institutions in Malaysia, with 14 students earning a total of 16 accolades at this year’s ceremony in May.
Beyond examination results and awards, students have also continued to excel globally.
Three A-Level students – Goh Jun Thean, Wong Pin Hao and Eugene Wong Zane Shaun – recently represented Malaysia at the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2026 in Lithuania, earning notable recognition among some of the world’s brightest young biologists.
Competing against 302 students from 78 countries, Malaysia delivered an impressive performance, with all three Sunway College representatives earning international recognition.
Goh made history as the first Malaysian to win a Gold Medal at IBO, placing 24th globally. Meanwhile, Wong Pin Hao and Eugene Wong Zane Shaun also distinguished themselves by receiving Merit Awards and ranking 201st and 204th in the world, respectively.
“I am very happy and proud to be the first Malaysian to win a Gold Medal at IBO 2026. The examinations were definitely tough and challenging, so the results came as a pleasant surprise to me,” shared Goh.
“As I had to miss quite a number of classes due to training camps, I am especially grateful to my lecturers for their support in helping me catch up with my schoolwork.
“It has been a truly wonderful academic journey at Sunway College. With dedicated and passionate lecturers, my preparation for the A-Level examinations was smooth and fulfilling.”
Goh’s achievement reflects the supportive environment beyond the classroom.
He expressed his appreciation for the sponsorship provided by Sunway Education Student LIFE – the institution’s student support ecosystem – which helped cover the fees associated with his participation in the competition.
These achievements are complemented by scholarships and diverse university pathways available to Sunway College’s A-Level students.
As of this year, the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation scholarship and grants total RM1.05bil, built on the belief that education has the power to shape the next generation.
This year alone, eight A-Level students secured admission offers from the University of Oxford and University of Cambridge.
Sunway College also produced the only Malaysian student admitted to Harvard University this year, who received a 90% financial grant.
