FOR a growing number of Peninsula College students, higher education is no longer confined to a single classroom, campus or even country.

From a “Campus-in-Industry” learning environment in Shah Alam to the University of Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom, students benefit from a unique combination of practical learning, global pathways and career-focused education.

This spirit of opportunity was celebrated as 562 graduates crossed the stage at Peninsula College Shah Alam’s 27th Convocation Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys and in the institution’s mission of transforming lives through education, career readiness and international partnerships.

‘Campus-in-Industry’ learning experience

Established in 1998, Peninsula College has spent nearly three decades redefining higher education through its distinctive “Campus-in-Industry” philosophy.

Located within the PKT Logistics Group ecosystem, students learn in an active business and logistics environment to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and workplace application.

This approach is particularly evident in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Maritime Management, flagship disciplines that reflect the college’s commitment to developing industry- ready talent for sectors that drive regional and global economic growth.

Through close collaboration with industry practitioners, students gain practical exposure, professional competencies and workplace readiness that support successful career outcomes.

Supporting this educational approach is the INDUSTRY Framework, Peninsula College’s signature “Campus-in-Industry” model that integrates workplace learning, professional mentoring, industry-informed curricula, AI-powered digital tools, real-world projects, skills development and employability-focused experiences throughout the student journey.

Global pathways and international opportunities

A defining feature of the Peninsula experience is its longstanding partnership with the University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. This year marks 18 years of successful academic collaboration between the two institutions.

Through this partnership, students have access to globally recognised degree pathways across disciplines including Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Maritime Management, Business and Management, Accounting and Finance, Computing, and Law Enforcement, while benefiting from Peninsula’s “Campus-in-Industry” learning environment in Malaysia.

Beyond academic excellence, the partnership has created life-changing opportunities through scholarship-supported progression pathways to the United Kingdom.

Selected students may complete their final year studies at the University of Gloucestershire, gaining international exposure and broader global perspectives in a different academic environment.

The impact of this partnership was evident during this year’s convocation. Members of the 2025 scholarship cohort, Mahavighnen Nagaraj and Yan Yen Lin, returned to Malaysia to celebrate their graduation after successfully completing their final-year Business and Management studies at the University of Gloucestershire.

Their achievements demonstrate how international education can broaden horizons and strengthen personal growth. Building on this success, a new cohort of four students has begun their final year studies in the United Kingdom.

Representing Computer Science, Accounting and Finance, Business Studies and Digital Business, these students continue Peninsula’s growing tradition of international learning and global exposure.

Reflecting on the partnership, University of Gloucestershire vice-chancellor Dame Clare Marchant said, “One of the most rewarding aspects of our partnership with Peninsula College is witnessing students’ progress from Malaysia to the United Kingdom, embracing new experiences, cultures and opportunities along the way. Their achievements demonstrate the value of international education in preparing graduates for a global future.”

Highlighting the institution’s educational philosophy, PKT Logistics Group chief executive and managing director and managing director of Peninsula Higher Education Datuk Seri Michael Tio said, “By combining practical exposure within our ‘Campus-in-Industry’ environment with internationally recognised academic pathways, we empower students to develop both workplace readiness and a global outlook, ensuring they are prepared not only for employment but also for long-term success in a rapidly evolving world.”

Peninsula College Shah Alam chief executive Dr Edmund Edward added, “Every graduate represents a unique story of perseverance, growth and achievement.

“Whether their journey was completed in Malaysia or extended to the United Kingdom through our partnership with the University of Gloucestershire, we are proud to see our students graduate with the knowledge, confidence and global perspective needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.”

Complementing this approach is “Jom! Bekerja Sambil Belajar” (JBSB), which enables students to gain workplace exposure while combining academic learning with practical experience.

The effectiveness of this approach is reflected in the institution’s graduate outcomes.

According to the Higher Education Ministry’s 2025 Graduate Tracer Study, Peninsula College Shah Alam achieved a 100% graduate employability rate, underscoring its success in preparing students for meaningful careers and long-term professional growth.

Earlier this year, the college’s innovative educational model also received national recognition through two Malaysia Book of Records achievements: Biggest Campus-in-Industry and Biggest Logistics College in Malaysia.

As the graduates celebrated this milestone, their achievements reflected the possibilities that emerge when practical learning, global opportunity and academic excellence come together.

From a “Campus-in-Industry” environment in Shah Alam to scholarship-supported pathways at the University of Gloucestershire, the college continues to equip future-ready graduates with the knowledge, experience and global outlook needed to succeed on both local and international stages.
