Johor polls: BN's Ling Tian Soon, Teow Chia Ling banking on track record in serving people to win votes

JOHOR BARU: Barisan Nasional candidates Ling Tian Soon and Teow Chia Ling are banking on their experience in serving the people to win over voters seeking proven leadership in their constituencies.

Ling Tian Soon, 42, who is seeking re-election for the Yong Peng seat, said he is banking on his track record of service in the constituency over the past four years.

He said his priority had been improving infrastructure in Yong Peng, adding that he had secured more than RM52mil for development projects in the constituency.

"Over the past four years, my focus has been on catching up on infrastructure development because Yong Peng had lost out on development opportunities over two terms.

"This week, I will focus on telling the people what we have done, what problems we have solved and what we have built over the past four years before outlining our plans for the future," he said.

Ling said he would unveil his five-year development plan for Yong Peng on July 4, and pledged to ensure the constituency benefits from the Johor government's plans to drive economic growth, create higher-income jobs and address housing issues.

"I hope they will give me another term so that together we can bring even more change and create the next chapter for Yong Peng," he said.

Ling will face Pakatan Harapan's Yong Hui Yi in a straight fight for the seat

Teow Chia Ling, who is contesting for Barisan in Puteri Wangsa said having served as Johor Baru City Council councillor has made her quite familiar with the area and issues faced by the people.

“Traffic congestion remains the biggest concern among residents and although some roads are under the federal jurisdiction, I believe we can find solutions to improve traffic flow.

“Infrastructure improvements are also needed in Puteri Wangsa, including more sheltered basketball courts that could serve as community spaces besides providing sports facilities to improve the quality of life,” the 42-year-old said.

Teow, who is contesting for the first time, is in a five-cornered fight with candidates from Pakatan Harapan (Dr Maszlee Malik), Rashifa Aljunied (Muda), Nicholas Paul Vincent (Bersama) and Wang Wee Siong (Independent).
