PONTIAN: Those who were not selected as candidates for the Johor state election should set their disappointment aside and wait for their time to come.

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party should instead focus on strengthening its machinery.

This is to ensure Barisan Nasional retains power and continues to keep Johor as its stronghold.

"Naturally, there are those in certain areas who are disappointed because they were not selected as candidates or were not retained," he said.

"However, that is part of one's rezeki (luck)," he added.

"We all know there was no interference from any party. I left the decision entirely to the Mentri Besar and the division leadership to determine the candidates," he said.

He said this in his speech at the launch of the Barisan election machinery for the Benut state seat at Kampung Parit Ismail, Benut, on Saturday (June 27).

He also urged those who were not selected as candidates to wait for their time to come.

"If anyone is disappointed because they were not selected, be patient. Wait for your time," he said.

"When your rezeki comes, it will never go to the wrong address. I am confident that the opportunity will come one day," he added.
