TANGKAK: Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has dismissed claims that the federal government had failed to provide Johor with sufficient allocations.
The Home Minister said records from the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department showed that the state had received RM14.6bil under the current administration.
“The allocations given by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government were higher compared with the RM10.2bil allocated to Johor during the previous administration led by former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. We have to answer with figures,” he said before the announcement of Pakatan candidates for the 16th Johor state election in Bukit Gambir here on Monday (June 22).
On the upcoming state election, he said Pakatan’s focus was on facing Umno, Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional in the political arena.
“The job of our candidates, election machinery and supporters is to ensure voters come out to vote. A low voter turnout will give an advantage to Barisan.
“A higher turnout will signal positively for Pakatan to win Johor,” he said.
The Election Commission has set July 11 as polling day for the Johor state election, with nomination day taking place this Saturday (June 27).
