Johor polls: Muda names three more candidates

JOHOR BARU: Muda has named three more candidates for the upcoming Johor state election besides defending its sole seat in Puteri Wangsa.

The party’s Kulai division chief M Premanand, 53, would be fielded in Bukit Batu (Kulai), Muar division information chief Muhammad Amir Fiqri, 30, will vie for Maharani (Muar), while Ainie Haziqah Shafii, 36, is contesting Simpang Jeram (Muar).

The announcement was made by party president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (June 21) night.

Muda’s Johor election director Rasid Abu Bakar said all three candidates have different experiences and offerings for the people.

"Premanand has three decades of engineering, manufacturing and training experience, Ainie Haziqah is a lawyer and social activist while Muhammad Amir is the chief of staff for the Muar MP," he said in a statement.

On Saturday (June 20), Muda named Rashifa Aljunied as its candidate for Puteri Wangsa, which Amira Aisya won in 2022 – the party's sole victory in the state polls.

The Election Commission has set July 11 as polling day, with nominations this Saturday (June 27).
