TANGKAK: Former education minister Dr Maszlee Malik is among the names that have been announced by Pakatan Harapan to contest the 16th Johor state election.
Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim unveiled the line-up for all 56 seats in the state polls in Bukit Gambir here on Sunday (June 22), which included MPs, former ministers and former state executive councillors.
He announced Maszlee as the candidate for Puteri Wangsa, confirming speculation after Amanah ceded the seat to PKR.
Other notable names announced were Pulai MP Suhaizan Kayat, also former Johor legislative assembly speaker, as the candidate for the Larkin seat, Batu Pahat MP Onn Abu Bakar (Senggarang) and Johor Amanah deputy chief and former state exco Dzulkefly Ahmad (Kota Iskandar).
Anwar also announced that Johor balancing force chief Andrew Chen would be defending the Stulang seat while Sharon Teo, special officer to the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, as the candidate for Permas, as well as former assemblyman Najib Lep as the candidate for Bukit Pasir.
The Election Commission has set July 11 as polling day for the Johor state election, with nomination day taking place this Saturday (June 27).
