Police nab 22 suspected drug abusers in Teluk Intan ops


IPOH: Police have arrested 22 suspected drug addicts during an operation in Labu Kubong, Teluk Intan.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Chua Kok Lian said the operation was launched following an investigation on Friday (June 19) to deter drug abuse.

"All those arrested are locals aged 18 to 58 and four Cambodians. Also seized during the operation were 55.6g of heroin and 9g of methamphetamine," he said in a statement on Monday (June 22).

ACP Chua said the cases would be investigated under Section 39B, 39A(1), 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (Act 234).

"The police will continue its efforts to deter drug distribution and usage activities without compromise for the safety of the community.

"We also urge the people to stay away from drug-related activities and to channel relevant information to the police narcotics unit on WhatsApp 012-208 7222 or the district police at 05-629 9222," he added.
