IPOH: Major roads across the city centre will be closed and traffic diverted from Friday (Aug 28) through National Day on Monday (Aug 31) for state-level parade rehearsals and celebrations.
The parade takes place along Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab in front of Ipoh Town Hall. Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah stated that road closures will begin at 6.00am on affected days to ensure smooth operations.
"To ensure the smooth running of the programme, full road closures and diversions will be implemented.
"Motorists are advised to plan their journey and choose alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 24).
He said among the locations involved are Ipoh Padang, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah, Jalan Tun Sambanthan (Little India), Jalan Tan Sri Tajudin Ali, Bulatan Bahagia (Medan Kidd), Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab and Jalan SP Seenivasagam.
He also said that closures and diversions would take place during parade rehearsals on Friday (Aug 28), Saturday (Aug 29), as well as on the celebration day itself (Aug 31).
He added that rehearsals for the Main Guard of Honour parade will also see road closures in front of the Town Hall on Aug 28 (Friday) and Aug 30 (Sunday) from 6am until completion.
