Man lodges police report against own son over 3R social media post

KUANTAN: A man has lodged a police report against his son who allegedly posted content touching on religion, race and royalty (3R) issues on social media.

Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Ashari Abu Samah said the 50-year-old man came to a police station with his 21-year-old son, a student at a higher learning institution, and lodged a police report on Wednesday (Feb 25) morning.

"He came to the police station with his son to apologise to Muslims and expressed concern for his son's safety," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the suspect allegedly uploaded an image deemed insulting to Islam and was arrested and remanded for four days until Saturday.

The case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

ACP Ashari also advised the public to remain calm and refrain from taking matters into their own hands that could disrupt public order. – Bernama
